For training schools
Practitioner gives independent therapists, coaches and complementary practitioners their whole practice in one place: a website, online booking, payments, a shop and a place in our directory. For students, it means they can start seeing clients properly, safely and honestly, from the first day of their course.
One login, one low price, and no commission on what their clients pay them.
Each partner school has its own code. Students who join with it get their first two months free, then pay the student rate of £4.99 a month while they train (£9.99 once they qualify). No card is needed to start, and when they add one they get £100 of free advertising in our directory.
Students answer a few questions about what they are training in and a website is written for them, with booking, a shop and a place in the Practitioner directory. It takes care of the business side, so they can put their energy into what they're learning.
A student's site says, honestly and clearly, that they are in training and who they train with. Practice sessions are priced fairly, up to £35 an hour, and the platform keeps what they offer within what a student should be offering.
A code of conduct every member signs, encrypted health questions, a session log, an incident log, and an optional "chat with me first" so anyone working from home can vet a new client before they book.
A loving nod to the big yellow local directory that sat by the phone in nearly every British home for generations.
Visitors can turn the pages as they looked in the 1950s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s or today, from black and yellow print to the modern web. People smile when they see it, and they remember it.
Every member gets a free listing, and £100 of free advertising to use in their first six months once they put a card on file (nothing is charged during their free months). Adverts start at 25p a week for a bold line and go up to a full page, so students can learn how advertising works, try different wording and see what brings enquiries, without risking real money.
Pages for every kind of practice in every town, and for the things people want help with ("help with sleep in Derby"), so clients can find a practitioner near them.
Students are listed as practitioners in training, with your school's name, so clients know exactly who they are booking.
Most practitioners only ever offer one-to-one sessions, so a quiet month or a week off means no income. On Practitioner, students can build a business with several kinds of income while they train: stock their shop on day one with ready-made recordings and free guides, and create their own programmes as their skills grow.
The heart of most practices, booked online at the times they choose.
Clients book and pay without phone tag, and reminders mean fewer no-shows.
Sessions in the built-in video room, with nothing for anyone to install, or by phone.
Clients can come from anywhere, not just within driving distance, and there are no room costs.
For example "6 sessions", paid for up front and booked as they go.
Money in the bank at the start, and clients who commit to the whole course of work.
Groups and classes that repeat weekly or monthly: their own short programmes and courses.
Several people in one hour, so more income for the same time.
Vouchers sold from their site, sent on the day the buyer chooses, and never expiring.
Paid now, often in December and around birthdays, and a gift brings in a new client.
Free guides to give away, and their own workbooks and guides to sell.
Free guides build an email list; paid ones earn while they sleep.
More than 150 ready-made recordings they can add to their shop and sell at their own price, plus their own recordings.
Income between sessions, and something for clients to keep using after their last session.
Discount codes and offers on their own page, where people looking for a deal can find them.
A steady flow of first-time clients in quieter weeks.
Monthly or yearly wellbeing packages for small local businesses: sessions, talks, workshops, and recordings or videos made for that company on whatever it needs, all invoiced in their practice's name.
Larger, regular income that comes in every month, not one client at a time.
A partnership, not a sales pitch: we want your students to do well, and to be proud of where they trained. See every school we list.
Each student's website and directory entry shows "Training with" and your school's name. Every student you send us becomes a small advert for your school.
Every UK training school we know of is already listed free in our training schools section: what you teach, who accredits you, where you are and a link to your site. Partner schools are marked, with the two-months-free link for their students. Tell us if anything needs changing.
A practical, low-cost way for students to start seeing clients properly, which reflects well on you as a school that looks after its students beyond the certificate.
Plain guides you can hand out or use in your course: setting up a practice, pricing, getting your first clients and staying safe. Ask and we'll send them.
Email hello@practitioner.org.uk or ring Peter on 07984 018749, and we'll set up your school's code and listing.
